It’s always a good idea to keep track of your water usage. A simple spreadsheet could quickly show year over year a problem with your water consumption.

Check your Meter
Turn off all water faucets, make sure the dishwasher, wash machine and that no one is in the shower. Then go out to your water meter and see if it changes, if it does you probably have a pretty good leak. If it doesn’t, wait a few hours the see if it has moved. Don’t run any water. If it has, then you probably have a slow leak.
